Video Otoscopy - The ear is scanned by a video otoscope for viewing on a video monitor or printing a picture. This allows a client to look into his/her own ear all the way down to the ear drum. It also allows the hearing specialist to take a picture for forwarding to a medical doctor.
Audiometric Testing - is hearing evaluation testing for the purpose of fitting hearing devices. This testing should be a more thorough evaluation than those traditionally given in the past or than diagnostic testing. Because of the complexity of the advanced circuits used today, more information is required from the initial evaluation for programming and fitting these hearing devices.
Hearing Aid Performance Tests - Your hearing aid is tested in a computer operated test box which insures that it is performing to the manufacturer's specifications.
Instrument Recommendations - Based on the results of your audiometric testing, the state-of-the-art devices available at the time, and your pocketbook, a recommendation will be made for hearing devices that are appropriate for your hearing loss.
Computerized Hearing Instrument Fittings - Live Speech Mapping, "in situ", is used during hearing instrument fittings utilizing a computer and is performed on all clients. A microphone probe is placed in the ear, along with the hearing instrument, and the "live speech" that is presented to the ear drum is measured and displayed on a computer monitor so that the hearing instrument specialist can actually see the levels of speech sounds, at different frequencies, that is presented to the ear drum by the hearing instrument. As a result of this test, adjustments are made to the hearing instrument so that the appropriate speech sound stimulation is provided to the client for optimum hearing and understanding.
Client Counseling - Preferred Hearing Solutions includes, with every service, appropriate client counseling. This is a very important facet of hearing device service. Whenever a client is provided with an increased stimulus in his hearing, he experiences "new sounds" which can either be overwhelming or exciting to the client. These experiences, in most cases, require counseling to assure the client that what he is hearing, in fact, are real sounds, as everyone else hears them, and not some unnatural sounds generated by the hearing instruments.
